Information On GAP Insurance

A lot of car insurance will pay some money to you if your car is stolen or wrecked in an accident. However, there are also a lot of insurance companies that wont pay a penny if either of these things happen. Although many people do not know much about it, there is a type of insurance that is called GAP insurance, of Guaranteed Auto Protection. To put it simply, GAP insurance is a type of insurance that will pay the difference between the true value of your car, and what you still have left to pay on your car if it were to be stolen, or you were to have an accident. Although it may not seem like it, GAP insurance can save you thousands of pounds if you were to have an accident or your car was stolen within a short time of you owning it.

There are many people who would need to take out a GAP insurance plan. For example, if you have made a down payment of less than twenty percent of your cars actual value, then it would be wise for you to take out a Guaranteed Auto Protection plan. This will ensure that if you were to total your car or your car were to get stolen, then you will be covered and the insurance provider will meet the cost, potentially saving you thousands of pounds.

There are basically three main types of Guaranteed Auto Protection insurance. The first kind is simply named GAP insurance. GAP insurance is only able to be offered by someone who holds a license to do so. A lot of big, well known companies will offer GAP insurance, so it is important to find out if you can get it from the same place that you bought the car in the first place. You can do this by talking to the car dealer and finding out as much information as you can, and asking whether are not you will be able to purchase GAP insurance directly from them.

The next type of Guaranteed Auto Protection is GAP Waiver. This type of insurance is an agreement that is set up between you and a lender or a dealer. This is where the difference between the balance and the ACV is waived. Of course, the waiver has to have backing from an insurance provider. It is also important to note that you will probably have to pay some sort of interest on this type of Guaranteed Auto Protection insurance.

The final main type of Guaranteed Auto Protection insurance is GAP Endorsement. To put it simply, this is where your insurance company may be able to add an amendment to make sure that GAP is included in your insurance policy. This is something that will have to be discussed with you and your insurance policy provider, it is not always something that will be possible to do, but it is worth looking into if you feel that you need Guaranteed Auto Protection Insurance.

There are, however, a few things that you should be aware of before you jump straight into purchasing GAP insurance. Firstly, if a car dealer tells you that you must purchase GAP insurance with your vehicle, then do not believe them. It is far better to purchase GAP insurance once you have actually bought your car, possible from a different provider. Also, watch out for people who are not legitimate and are not licensed to sell you Guaranteed Auto Protection insurance. Although there are very few people like this, it still happens, so make sure that you are buying your insurance from a reputable provider.
