The StreetPilot is a technical masterpiece, although for those who are not tech-savvy, it is very easy to use! The touch screen eliminates the need to search for the right buttons, and the compact design makes it pleasantly unobtrusive. The c340 is very lightweight at a little under a half of a pound and is fairly simple to install. The suction cup mount is designed to be attached to your windshield. The dashboard disk is provided as an alternative, permanent mount, although it has a lower placement than the suction cup and some may prefer the windshield placement. DO NOT USE THE DASHBOARD DISK IF YOU DO NOT WANT A PERMANENT INSTALLATION!! The battery life is only about 4-8 hours, but there is a power adapter to connect to your 12 volt outlet included.

You can purchase an optional 3 year service plan through N.E.W. at the time of purchase for only $49.99. This extended warranty covers mechanical and electrical failures, failures caused by normal wear and tear, defects in workmanship and material, damage from power surges, and failures caused by environmental factors, such as heat, dust, and humidity. I haven't had to use the warranty yet, but it is nice to know that if anything goes wrong with my c340, I can get it taken care of.

The c340 is versatile and users can customize the StreetPilot in several ways. You may select the view perspective to your choice of 3-D mapping or 2-D overhead view. Using the USB cable, you can download your choice of male voices for the navigation. You can also customize your StreetPilot with a decent selection of face plates. My favorite feature of the c340 is the preloaded points of interest. If you are on a long trip in an unfamiliar area and get a craving for some LoMein, just simply hit food, Chinese, get a list of local restaurants, pick one and hit GO. The c340 will take you there!

Overall the c340 is a time-saving and frustration-preventing masterpiece. I love it. There are a few comparable units on the market such as the TomTom ONE XL Portable Extra-wide Screen GPS Navigation System ($299) and the Magellan Maestro 4040 Portable Auto GPS System for U.S./Canada/Puerto Rico ($352). Both of these systems have similar features, but not as affordable and the customer service at Garmin is unbeatable. You can find the c340 at Dell, Target, QVC, Circuit City, Home Depot, Kohl's, and Amazon, of course the prices will vary depending on the retailer. When I bought my c340, I purchased it at Amazon for $265. I have probably saved over $300 since then on fuel that I would have wasted driving around in circles!
