Dealer Warranty
Facts Hidden Between Lines At Car Dealers?
The term certified used cars is vastly used for marketing purposes. As a matter of fact, it is often abused to increase the profit of the sales person, and the dealership. Certified basically means that the car has been reconditioned, which the process of restoring some parts, performing a tune up, and equipping the car with brand new brakes. This costs much less than the margin the car price is being jacked up by. Furthermore, I have walked into car dealers lot where the engine wires were not necessarily changed rather got sprayed with some black paint to make it look new.
I have had many readers write me about buying a certified car that had a record of past accident, those that the dealer did not disclose. However, those readers could not fight for their right, because the discourse was verbal, and nothing in witting. The fine print gets a lot of consumers in trouble. Lets take the 90 day dealer warranty that comes with a car for example. If you were to read the fine lines, you wold notice that a lot of dealers have you sign on paper work stating that the car is sold AS IS, and the warranty only covers the power train.
The final issue that I want to make you aware of is the buyers guide, or the sticker that you would find on the car windows when at a car dealer. A fact that most consumers are uneducated about is that the sticker is a requirement forced by the federal government, and it should state the type of warranty that comes with the car. This sticker would also disclose if the car was sold AS IS, or not. If the salesperson tell you that the car is covered under the warranty, but the sticker states AS IS , the sticker overrides the words of the salesperson. The top complaint I get from readers is that they bought a car due to the fact that the salesperson lied and told them the dealer will repair any failures, all the while the "As Is" box was checked. Read the buyer guide carefully, don't just glance at it. If a used car dealer does not have Buyers Guide stickers leave immediately.

Dealer Warranty Work Issue - 2007 Malibu Vibration Problem?
2007 Malibu Vibration Problem
I have a 2007 Malibu, 2.2 with automatic trans with only 5,000 miles and the engine/front end vibrates at about 15 mph. It starts, idles and shifts fine.
It will accelerate fine about one in every 20 times, but will have a noticable shake/vibration in the engine (or torque converter or transaxle) at about 15 mph.
I've taken the car to two Chevy dealers and the first one noticed it but had no fix ("no engine light comes on") and the second dealer said their mechanics could not find a problem.
My friends have driven the car and can easily notice the shake. I heard another owner say this could be loose torque converter bolts , or similar transaxle issue. What can I do? Have a third-party shop drive it and give their opinion?
Will GM then try a fix? Have owners been repaid for a third-party shop's diagnosis? Need procedure to get a Chevy dealer to fix vehicle.
Thanks for the assistance.

have i any rights regarding false selling on a car purchase?
i recently purchased a car under the impression the car had just been fitted with a new gearbox and clutch. 5 months later and no longer under the dealers warranty the gears and clutch have just gone. After phoning the dealer he is still stating that it had a new gearbox and clutch. Being past the dealers warranty period do i have any rights to get the work done or a refund. surely a new gearbox and clutch would`nt fail so soon.
