Where's the best place to buy a extended auto warranty?

I have another 5k miles before my factory warranty runs out on my car and i wanted to buy a extended auto warranty. I did'nt buy 1 from the dealer becasue i did'nt want my car payment to go up anymore. I pefer now to just pay for a extended warranty in full rather month to month. My question is where is the best place/company to buy a warranty from as far as price, customer service, roadside service, rental car assistant, dependability and reliability? I know on my last car i brought a warrany from ge auto warranty and they were excellent as far as repairing my car.

The best place to get an extended warranty would be from a dealership that sells your vehicle new. It doesn't have to be the exact same dealership, however it will be the best overall and will be honored across the USA. Good luck.

I want to make a suggestion to you. First of all a extended warranty is gonna cost anywhere from 1100.00-1500.00. Unless your car was a lemon from the beginning you are probly never gonna use that warranty. I suggest taking the money, put it in savings and when you have a problem use the funds that you have set aside. I don't feel an extended warranty is a needed service...

You could go to the dealership you bought it and talk to the F&I personnel and they can sell you one. as for needing one it depends on the car really. I am a certified Technician and fix my own cars, and I still have an extended warranty on my wifes car. even with my discount on parts they are still to expensive and no labor charges to myself. I suggest extended warranties to everyone on cars. If you saw the repair bills I see daily of people who don't have one you would too.

Pertaining to the prior answer, I would agree with putting the money into savings. If you can afford a $2k-$3k repair, then skip the warranty.

If you want a warranty, there are generally 2 levels: exclusionary and stated. The exclusionary policy will cover all car parts except for the items listed as not covered. The stated coverage is cheaper and gives you a list of only the items covered. Always consider a factory-sponsored warranty as well as a reputable independent warranty. Your GE warranty is excellent as is the Warrantech brand. Check from dealer to dealer as they are free to sell the warranty for any amount they want. Typical profit is about $400 on a warranty so they should be interested in giving you plenty of attention. Finally, compare the coverage of the final 2 brands you are going to consider. Items such as overall components covered, deductible, rental coverage, mileage and months of coverage, etc. should be compared.
    Good luck.
