Our '05 Aztek went into the shop this a.m. to replace a severely worn d/s wheel bearing. The mechaninc said that the other side is also bad and needs replaced. The vehicle has only 60,000 miles on it. I have read where GM extended warranty/reimbursement for 01-04(?) GM vehicles. A vehicle produced for the 05 model year could easily have components for the 04 model year in it.
Does anyone know if I can apply for reimbursement or has anyone alse had wheel bearing probs for this vehicle?

I saw the bulletin for the 01-04 Azteks, the extension ends at 5 years and 60,000 miles. An 04 part would not be put on an 05 vehicle if there was a known issue. The first stop is to contact your servicing dealer. If you are below the 5 year 60,000 mile parameters, he can talk to the field rep to see if GM will participate in a portion of the repair. Since you are close to 60,000 miles I would doubt that GM would pay for the entire repair. You have received 60,000 miles of service and that means you did receive some benefit from the existing bearings.
It helps if you have good records of performing maintenance as per your owners manual. Also, the general appearance of the vehicle (does it look like a dump, or do you keep it up (vacuumed carpet, clean interior etc.) helps you to show that you have taken care of the vehicle.

- not sure about the warrenty, get the dealer to run the vin it should have all exceptions, TSB, campaines ect. Wheel bearings are common on those especially in salt states.0% 0 Votes
