Getting More Warranty For Less

Many consumers who would not put up with spending too much on a whole range of products and services appear to turn a blind eye when it comes to car warranty. There's no reason for any of us to be paying too much for car warranty agreements.

A large number of car owners seem to see warranty policies as something that are simply renewed each year. They are often bought from car dealerships or other such retailers, with seemingly little thought being given to whether or not the best deal is being received.

Part of the reason for this continued reliance on car dealerships has been that many people see them as being the only source of policies. The blame for such a situation continuing has to be laid firmly at the door of the specialist warranty companies.

Their willingness to allow car retailers to market policies on their behalf has meant that the specialist warranty firms have not had to spend an enormous amount on advertising.

Unfortunately, this introduction of middlemen to the system has undoubtedly led to rising costs for many consumers.

Things are now starting to change, with many companies looking to take an active approach to selling direct to UK car owners. They've realised that the internet gives them an outstanding opportunity to reach out to new customers.

With the lower costs involved in trading online, they've also been able to pass on savings to consumers. This can only be good news for those of us who have been paying too much for vehicle warranty agreements in the past.

With the changes that have been taking place in the industry, there can be no doubt that the best way to get an improved deal is to carry out your research online.

By making sure that you know how policies compare, in terms of both quality and price, you can put yourself in a far better position to make an informed decision.

Compare prices online and then make a purchase direct from a specialist car Warranty Company. You'll find that you can often get a discount price by taking this course of action.

Pay less for your warranty agreements.

Can I Sue This Car Dealer?
At the end of May, we purchased a used '04 Jetta which was sold as advertised with a free 3 month warranty included. A major part of why we felt secure purchasing the vehicle was the warranty, since if something big happened, we would be covered. Needless to say, we ended up having problems (or I wouldn't be here asking), and the transmission needs replacing. The car was denied coverage for the repair because the car had "over sized tires" which were original to the car as we purchased it. The warranty company states that the warranty was never valid, and was always null and void because of the tires, and further, that the dealer should have known better than to promise and advertise services that were against the policies of their company. We have contacted a lawyer about this manner, and on a phone consult, he told us the case was too simple for us to pay him, we didn't need a lawyer, and we should file in small claims courts. So that is what we intend to do. However, of course the car salesman is saying that the fault is not his, it is the warranty company. Is he correct? We were wrongfully denied service, or did he fail to deliver the product we purchased - an '04 Jetta with 3 month warranty.

What are the best extended warranties for cars?
I am just looking for a good extended warranty company that would cover the usual on my 2003 Odyssey with 93k miles (trans, alternator, starter, etc). I heard there are a lot of scams and wondered if some of you had some good experiences. All tips are appreciated.

what can cause the pistons in a car engine to fail?
Hi, I took my car into the garage today as its been making a funny rattling noise on first starting up for the last few weeks and in the last few days I have had difficulty starting it (its turning over but not catching) The garage have told me that the car needs a full new engine and that it won't be covered by my warranty as the damage was caused by a lack of oil. The garage signed off on the oil level as being at maximum in February and a few days after the problem started I checked the oil myself and it was still full. I therefore don't understand how the damage can have been caused by a lack of oil and obviously want to challenge this with the garage/warranty people. Obviously I can't prove that the oil was full a few weeks ago. I am going to speak to the garage and warranty company tomorrow but just wondered if anyone had any ideas as to what else may have caused this or what questions I should be asking tomorrow? Any advice much appreciated! Thanks

Schumer Urges Inquiry of Companies Behind Bogus Auto Warranty Calls

11 May 2009 at 12:00am  Senator Charles E. Schumer has never struggled to find a reason to hold a news conference on a Sunday. But the inspiration for the one on Mother's Day arrived unexpectedly, when the senator's cellphone rang during a health care meeting on Capitol Hill last week. ''You are still eligible to reactivate warranty coverage,'' said the recorded voice on...
