Warranty On Used Car

Second Hand Car Warranties

One of the worries about buying a second hand car is often about how reliable the vehicle will be. Second hand car warranties can provide a good way of putting your mind at rest.

You're probably aware of the existence of car warranties, but many UK car owners seem surprised to learn that it's possible to take out a car warranty on a used car.

Indeed, independent car warranty companies have increasingly been looking to sell policies direct to the owners of used cars.

Part of the reasoning behind this move has undoubtedly been that used cars are perceived to have become much more reliable in recent years. This means that warranty companies see it as less of a risk to supply warranty on used cars.

It's also good news for the consumer, as it means that we now have access to car warranties for our second hand cars.

If you're interested in purchasing a car warranty for a second hand vehicle, then it's fairly simple to find something simple.

In most cases, you should avoid rushing along to your local car retailer to get a warranty policy put in place. Car retailers tend to sell policies at a higher price than is available elsewhere.

Many used car owners have found that a better bet is to concentrate their efforts on contacting an independent car warranty company.

These specialists have been increasing their business and now sell direct to car owners online. By buying online, you can benefit from reduced costs.

Take time to find a policy that is at the right price and offers the right amount of cover for your second hand car.

Your experience with specific extended warranties on used cars?
We are shopping for a used car and have come across a number of third-party extended warranty options. We are inspecting the contracts pretty closely and some are clearly better than others. We've also called different mechanics and received various responses - some have had good experiences, some haven't. Do you have any specific experience with one or another of these companies? Positive or negative? We are looking for specifics, here. Also, in particular, does anyone have experience with the "Freedom Protection Plan" (the best one) offered through Eagle Warranty? Or with Eagle Warranty in general? Thanks. I know these aren't popular but I am also suspect of blanket advice against any product. The specific contract terms for Eagle Warranty can be found at: www.eaglewarranty.com. Yes. A new car would be great. Unfortunately that is not a possibility for us. (Neither do we consider it a wise investment). Unless you know of a new car with AWD and dual airbags that sells for 10K?

GM warranty...on used car??
I purchased a car which the dealer offered a GM warranty. I took the warranty, but it has a $100 deductible, which isn't bad. However, I have had multiple complaints about the same issue more than once where I have to pay the deductible for the same problem over and over. They aren't fixing it, or denying that it exists. For example I complained that it was sluggish and had a problem in the fuel system. They changed the fuel filter (not covered by the warranty) and some other things unrelated that I hadn't complained about. I had to pay for the fuel filter, and the deductible Oh yea and a new battery which come to a ridiculous total of $350.... It did not fix the problem at all..... Today my fuel pump went out, and although I paid the deductible for having it worked on for an unknown problem in the fuel system (that they did not fix), they want me to pay it again.... I also have a knock in the engine that they deny hearing. Do I have any rights in this, or am I at their mercy???

Volkswagen Warranty on Used Car?
I just purchased a used 2006 Volkswagen Jetta that is still under the manufacturers basic warranty. Does this warranty automatically transfer over when I purchase the vehicle or is there something I need to do?
